What is your best Kappa Sig memory so far?
THON 2011 with Kappa Sig has definitely been my favorite memory so far. I think we raised more money this year than we ever have before and it was a great experience getting to meet our THON family and especially Nick, who is our THON child. It was probably one of the best memories that I have from Penn State and spending it with Kappa Sig made it that much better.
What is your position in the fraternity? What is the biggest thing you’ve learned in that role?
Currently I hold the position of Grand Master of Ceremonies. Previously I served as the recruitment chair. Both of these positions have taught me so many things so far, but the most important thing that I have learned is that hard work will be rewarded. I’ve learned to set goals and if I work hard towards these goals then they will become reality.
What are your hopes for the future of Alpha Delta?
I would like to see Alpha Delta continue to grow in numbers, just as it has since I joined. I would love for Alpha Delta to get our own house, so one day when I am an alum I will have some place to come back to and visit and remember all of the memories I made as Penn State.
Why do you feel it’s important for alumni to stay connected with the active chapter?
Alumni can play an extremely important role in the chapter. They can give the chapter advice on issues and help improve the chapter. They can also play a key role in helping brothers find internships as well as jobs.
How will you remain involved with Kappa Sig as an alum?
I plan on coming back to Penn State to visit Kappa Sig and see how everything is going for the chapter. I also plan on donating to the chapter to help them out financially.
What are your future career goals?
Since I really enjoy working with kids I plan on working as a physical education and health teacher when I get out of college. I also want to obtain my personal trainer certification so I can work as a personal trainer and I really want to get involved coaching basketball at any level.
What other activities are you involved with at Penn State?
For the past two years I have served on a communications committee for THON. I am also a member of the Health and Human Development Honor Society and the Health and Physical Education Club.
What is your favorite thing about Happy Valley?
Football season in Happy Valley is by far my favorite thing. Nothing beats walking outside on a Saturday morning in the fall and see thousands of people tailgating getting ready for the big game.
