Moments From THON 2012

Dancer and Kappa Sigma brother, Eric Ahrweiler, answers questions for a THON participants profile article for the Centre Daily Times. He responded with the following information:

Alpha-Delta Raises $37,000 for 2012 THON

The Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, or THON, was a huge success this year for the Alpha-Delta chapter. Although the loss of one of our four canning trips due to bad weather and the Jerry Sandusky scandal posed a threat to our ability to beat our total from last year, Alpha-Delta overcame it all with a grand total of $37,873.45 for the 2011-2012 school year! Each year we have continued to build momentum and we hope that for next year’s THON we will be able to secure a sorority or club partner.

Traditions Gone but Not Forgotten

Happy Valley and Penn State are filled with long-standing traditions that will withstand the test of time. But there are other great traditions from days gone by that no longer exist. Tell Us Your THON Story!

THON undoubtedly has a great impact not only on the kids, but on students, alumni and the Penn State community. There is always a lot of talk about THON and every story and experience is important. So, we want to hear from YOU. What is/was the most rewarding part of your THON experience?

Remember When?

Richard Armstrong ’81 wants to know “Wondering how all those pledges turned out at the end of the day! Do deer always land on the roof with police knocking at the door? Does Charlie really still know how to play Tails? Does the Woj still eat popcorn when sitting in the rider’s seat? Does the non-alcoholic punch still get left on the bar? How many screws were in that not so portable bar that was still in the house? If you don’t change the water in a mop bucket, does the floor ever get clean? Did the mold ever get cleaned off the first floor bathroom walls? How is Joe Fielding these days? Does spaghetti still belong at the bottom of a stairwell? How many kitchen raids can occur in a week? Is summer school really school? Can Billy Z still fix anything? How much of this rings any bells?”

Happy Holidays

Wishing you and your family a joyous holiday season and a happy new year! Send other brothers well wishes this season, too! You can find their contact information in the online directory.
