Brothers,
This past semester was an exciting one for our young Brothers at 420 E. Prospect Avenue. Yes- we’ve got a new home. Alpha-Delta has made a serious housing upgrade from our old dwelling at 232 E. Nittany. We’re renting the former Kappa Delta Rho house and our Brothers can’t wait to show it off this Fall!
Financially, Kappa Sigma remains strong. We Increased donors to our annual fund by 16 donors and over $4,000 this year! Thank you to our Alumni network, who make it possible for young undergraduate men to carry out the same Kappa Sigma principles that have made them successful in their years beyond college. The young men look to the Alumni to show them how it’s done and we trust that 2016-2017 will be no different.
While we’re on the subject of changes, the Nittany Lion football team has experienced its share this season as well. Homecoming will take place October 8 this year, with a noon kickoff at Beaver Stadium against Maryland. Will we see Kappa Sigma Alumni well-represented in Happy Valley the weekend of the big game?
We hope to plan many events this year that will re-engage and rejuvenate you, the Alumni, the lifeblood of our organization. More on that in upcoming monthly eLetters and future editions of Alpha-Delta news which will be in your mailboxes twice this year!
Other highlights on the horizon include Penn State’s biggest Philanthropy, THON. Last year, Kappa Sigma, along with many other PSU Fraternities/Sororities helped in raising the nine million dollar plus total for the Four Diamonds Fund. We hope to raise even more this year in the battle to cure childhood cancer!
We may have moved to a new address, but our values and principles remain. Take a moment and reflect on your days at Penn State and look ahead with pride at the Brothers who continue to be the kind of men that the Star and Crescent Creed says they ought to be.
I hope this letter finds you all well and primed for another great year in the annals of Kappa Sigma at Penn State.
A.E.K.D.B,
Ed Gorkes ‘79
Alumni President
