September 27th was a beautiful day for football in Happy Valley. It was also a beautiful day for a wedding.
Brother Ken Hinkle and his now-wife Jen Ports had been planning to exchange vows, when someone from Kappa Sig mentioned getting married at Penn State. Through a series of small endeavors, the couple was wed at the Kappa Sigma tailgate, with a lot of alumni in tow. The two also exchanged Penn State paw halves on necklaces instead of rings.
For many, returning to their alma mater is a return to something that once was or reliving the glory days. New beginnings are forged in college, and a new life transpires again after graduation; a birth into a new world with new opportunities and exhilarating chances to make something of one’s self. For Hinkle and Ports, they decided to start their newly married life in a place that a lot of Kappa Sig alumni call home.
For the happy couple, they celebrated in one of the happiest places in the world, with some of the happiest people in the world, with brothers and friends. For the rest of us, Happy Valley just got a little happier.
