Firm VP Finds First Job Thanks to Kappa Sigma

Rodd McDanel ’77 has Kappa Sigma to thank for his lucrative career path. Thanks to Rodd for sharing this story!

“Kappa Sigma was directly responsible for me obtaining my first job after graduation from Penn State in 1977. Paul Rill, a brother from Darmouth, and Robert Mitchell, a brother from Washington and Jefferson, were part of the management team at Alcan Cable in Williamsport, PA (now owned by Rio Tinto).

They saw my Kappa Sigma brotherhood on my resume and invited me to interview for an entry-level cost accounting position in August 1977. I got the job and have had several more since, eventually ending up as VP of finace for Europe with an electronics firm.
I have run into numerous brothers throughout my career around the world and we all shared the bond. This story may have occured a long time ago but it still holds true today for those in the Kappa Sigma brotherhood.”
