For 2013 THON, Kappa Sigma and Gamma Sigma Sigma raised a combined $64,545.24 to benefit the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.
Kappa Sig has a proud history of supporting this initiative which helps raise funds and awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer.
This year was especially memorable for our dancers, as THON finally crossed over the $100 million mark for total funds raised since the efforts inception back in 1977. After 46-hours of non-stop dancing “for the kids”, the announcement came that Penn State students had raised more than $12.3 million dollars this year—surpassing last year’s total by approximately $1.5 million.
Even the public had the opportunity to join in on the fun and passion of the THON mission. For the first time ever, THON opened the dance floor to everyone with the first-ever global line dance for pediatric cancer. “Dance With Us”, a choreographed 30-second line dance, gave the general public the option to join the THON Weekend festivities via live stream.
