Q&A with Jake Yarmoff

What is your hometown, major, etc.?
I am a freshman from Westport, CT and majoring in Finance. Year: Freshman

Why did you join Kappa Sigma?
I chose Kappa Sigma because when I was rushing fraternities this past fall, I found that the brothers at Kappa Sigma were far more approachable than those at other fraternities, and I enjoyed hanging out with them. Additionally, when I went out rushing, I was looking for a group of guys that I could trust, and I felt I found that family in Kappa Sigma.

Why did you choose Penn State?
I chose Penn State because of its excellent business school and networking opportunities. While the social opportunities and athletics are additional pluses (among others as well), I primarily wanted to make sure I had a clear path to my career.

What is your best Kappa Sig memory so far?
My best memory with Kappa Sigma so far has been the weekend of the Michigan football game. It was a fun weekend overall, where I hung out with the brothers the whole time. I met many of the brothers that I had not yet met before that weekend, including alumni.

What is your position with Kappa Sig?
My position in the fraternity is the Awards Chairman. While there is not a whole lot to do in the position besides filling out applications, I am learning about time management (meeting deadlines) and organization.

What are your hopes for the future of Alpha Delta?
I hope that in the future, the Alpha Delta chapter will become one of the most reputable fraternities on campus, as well as one of the most reputable chapters in the U.S.

Why do you feel it’s important for alumni to stay connected with the active chapter?
It is important for alumni to stay connected with the active chapter to help fund the chapter when truly necessary, to come support the chapter during various competitions, and to show the younger brothers how connected the chapter is, beyond the current students.

How will you remain involved with Kappa Sig as an alum?
As an alumnus, I plan to stay connected with Kappa Sigma through coming up to visit as often as I can, and donating money if I can and when I’m able.

What are your future career goals?
My future career goals include making a lot of money, enjoying my work, meeting great people and friends for life, and retiring early.

What other activities are you involved in at Penn State?
In addition to my involvement with Kappa Sigma, I am also part of an a cappella group.

What is your favorite thing about Happy Valley?
My favorite thing about Happy Valley is Beaver Stadium.
