The Importance of Loyalty

Thank you to Brendan Stenson ’05 for participating in this Q&A.

Why did you join Kappa Sig over other fraternities?
A lot of the friends I made during freshman summer sessions were living at Kappa Sigma for the summer taking classes and it was fun hanging out with juniors and seniors who gave me advice about how to make it through Penn State academically while having the best time possible.

What song(s) best defines your college experience?
‘The Taste of Ink’ by: The USED

How did Kappa Sig help make you into the man you are today?
It showed me about the importance of loyalty.

Tell us about a brother who was a mentor or went beyond the call of duty to help you.
I don’t think I can legally tell the story I want to, but there are plenty of brothers who have had my back in some potentially dangerous situations.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received, and from whom?
Jim Omara said get a girlfriend in college, because you can practice things…

If you were walking onto the Penn State campus as a young freshman, what advice would you give to the younger you?
GO TO CLASS. By senior year, you are deep in your major and you really have no choice but to go to class or fail, but freshman and sophomore year you are taking a lot of Gen Ed classes some with hundreds of students; the classes I went to I got A’s or B’s, the classes I tried to use Nittany Notes or followed the assignments online my grade was not so hot.
