What is your hometown, major, etc.?
I am a sophomore from Point Pleasant Beach, NJ majoring in Premedicine with a minor in Kinesiology.
Why did you join Kappa Sigma?
I joined Kappa Sigma my first semester of freshman year basically just because I met a lot of great guys at rush events. Looking back at it, this decision that I made pretty much basically because it seemed like fun turned out to be on the best choices I have made in college thus far.
Why did you choose Penn State?
I chose Penn State because it had everything that I wanted in a school. Growing up, my dad’s side of the family was full of PSU alumni so I was always around the university since I could walk. With this being said, I kind of neglected Penn State when looking at schools because I didn’t want to just follow in the family footsteps. However, when coming to campus and walking around I got such a great feeling of welcome and home that I knew it was the right place for me.
What is your best Kappa Sig memory so far?
My best memory of being the Kappa Sigma thus far is probably experiences having to do with THON. Through events such as canning weekends (when we go out and raise money by in intersections and storefronts) we are able to bond as a fraternity, exhibiting the finer points of brotherhood.
What are your hopes for the future of Alpha Delta?
For the future of Alpha Delta I mostly hope that we will have a house of our own before I graduate. I also aspire to win the FACE award and start a tradition of winning it every year.
Why do you feel it’s important for alumni to stay connected with the active chapter?
I feel that it is extremely important for alumni to stay involved in the chapter. As an active brother I know I definitely enjoy when old brothers come back and give advice and share stories of how our fraternity got to its current state. Alumni are also valuable in instances such as searching for jobs and career advice because they have already been through the processes that most of us students are just beginning.
What are your future career goals?
My career goals lie in the field of orthopedics. Upon graduation of undergrad I plan on attending medical school to become and orthopedic surgeon. My dream job would be working for an athletic program on either the collegiate or professional level.
What other activities are you involved with at Penn State?
Aside from just being a brother in the fraternity, I also give tours for the university through an organization known as Lion Scouts. I am also a new member of the Premedicine Society.
